Hi, my name is Joseph Pregenzer. I’m raising funds for my brother Gerard Pregenzer’s family after his sudden and heartbreaking passing. Gerard, a 47-year-old urologist, suffered sudden cardiac arrest on Monday, January 12th.
Gerard was an incredible husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was married to his wife, Tania Papayannopoulou-Pregenzer, and they have two young boys, Dino (10) and Mario (9). Gerard dedicated his life to helping others through medicine and was deeply passionate about his work. As the Head of Pregenzer Urology, he built a practice centered on compassion, skill, and integrity. He was known not only for his clinical excellence but for the genuine care and humanity he showed to every patient and colleague.
Outside of work, Gerard was an "eternal student" with wide-ranging talents. He was a gifted musician who earned his degrees in Music Composition, as well as in Music and Music Education, before pursuing his calling in medicine and becoming a doctor.
He became an expert in anything he was interested in. He never stopped learning, always teaching, and always sharing what he knew. He was incredibly disciplined and health-focused; he’d text me before 6:00 AM asking if I had worked out yet while I was still in bed, of course.
He also loved food and was an amazing cook. This past Thanksgiving he made the most perfect turducken. He cooked each meat separately sous-vide because Gerard always did things the right way, layered them with sausage, and finished it by deep frying the whole thing. It was unforgettable.
To me, Gerard wasn’t just my brother; he was my best friend. He protected me, looked out for me, and never judged me. He had an amazing sense of humor and always made life feel lighter just by being in it.
As the Head of his own practice, Gerard was the engine that kept everything moving for his family. Because he was an independent physician, his sudden passing has left Tania and the boys with many unexpected challenges to navigate. We are hoping to raise these funds to provide a bridge for Tania, Dino, and Mario. This will help with financial needs so they can focus on healing and honoring Gerard’s memory without the added weight of these sudden expenses.
If you’re able, please consider donating and sharing. Any amount helps, and your support means more than we can put into words.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Joseph Pregenzer
