Hi, My name is Jessie and I’m fundraising to support the poorest communities in the Philippines.

This June, a group of sixth formers and I are going to travel halfway across the world to the Philippines to support a charity called ANCOP - Answering the cry of the poor. This charity is located over there and supports the poorest communities in the Philippines through education, community development, and providing emergency aid in times of disaster.

While in the Philippines, the majority of our time will be spent volunteering in a range of community projects, painting houses and supporting the building of new homes, as well as spending time and playing games with the children in these communities. We will also be spending time in three different orphanages.

On top of our travelling costs, as a school we have pledged to raise £25,000 to build a community centre at the ANCOP site in Samal. Currently, there are over one hundred families living on this site, each occupying a simple home consisting of one room and a toilet, but there is no indoor space for the community to gather. This multi-purpose hall will be a shared space where the Samal community can meet, play and pray together, and will also be used to educate the children in this community who do not go to school.

I am personally putting £500 towards the costs and committed to raise a further amount to cover all expenses necessary. Your support will not only help me to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity serving others but also provide an unforgettable experience for the poorest in the Philippines.
