Support The People's Kitchen at Sundance

I am so grateful for the support of my community that has made it possible for me to run this kitchen at the Rosebud Lakota Sundance. This will be the kitchen’s fifth year running and last year we renamed it from the Firekeeper’s Kitchen to The People’s Kitchen because it has evolved from solely feeding the firekeepers to providing three meals a day for firekeepers and their families, the men and women who work tirelessly to prepare the grounds for the ceremony, the security team, many families from Rosebud and beyond and really and truly whoever walks by our camp hungry. 98% of the food we prepare is organic and I source all of it from Sedona with a few last minute fresh staples from Rapid City and Sturgis where we pick up dozens of farm fresh eggs from Bear Butte Gardens. The meat and veggies are frozen ahead of time in a freezer that I plug in to motel rooms along the way. We have been given permission to plug our freezer in to one of the power sources and we pull from the freezer for each meal. Everything else is kept in coolers that we refill with ice daily in the South Dakota heat. We wash our dishes in buckets and we carry the water from the spigot down the road. Our kitchen has become paramount and many people depend on it for the 10 days we are there together. Please help me keep the people fed so their prayers and their way can be prioritized.
