THE FIGHT ISN’T OVER
Thousands of local people came together to oppose the over-development of Great North Leisure Park.
We signed petitions. We submitted objections. We spoke at meetings. We packed out consultation events. We showed that this place matters. Despite that, the Deputy Mayor has now approved the development.
- Our only option to stop the development is now a Judicial review,
- We believe that we may have a good case, but this needs to be confirmed through a detailed review by legal advisors,
- We're very fortunate to have an excellent solicitor from the Southwark Law Centre.
- In addition, good barristers have offered ONF heavily discounted rates as a community organisation.
- WE NEED MORE DONATIONS to get us to target of £17,500 and begin the JR process.
- In the first phase, our lawyers will assess the case thoroughly and advise how to proceed.
It's a complex case, but a crucial one: Not only for North Finchley but for all those affected by abuses of the planning system by the Government and developers.
If we stand together, and donate together, we can still win!

Great North Leisure Park is more than a collection of buildings. For decades it has been a place where families celebrate birthdays, friends meet for a night out, disabled residents access leisure activities, young people gain independence, and local people come together.
Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about the loss of accessible leisure facilities, the impact on disabled people and young people, the destruction of valued community spaces, the threat to nearby nature, inadequate affordable housing provision, and the precedent this over-development could set for other suburban communities across London.
We believe communities deserve better.
Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help us obtain specialist legal advice and prepare for the next stage of the campaign.
If legal action proves possible, these funds will help support that challenge. If further work is required before a decision can be made, your contribution will help ensure the community has access to the expert advice needed to make informed decisions.
