This November, Gretchen Spiro and Til Luchau will be volunteering at a free community medical clinic in Taksindu, Nepal, organized by Sherpa Mountain Adventures. This annual clinic provides medical and dental care for the monastery’s novice monks and local rural villagers.
We’re raising funds to support the health and well-being of more than 50 novice monks at Takgon Shaddrub Tharling Monastery and School. All donations, after GoFundMe fees, will go directly to the monastery and the Taksindu community free medical clinic.
This project is close to our hearts. Sienna spent two months at the monastery in spring 2026, teaching English and spending time with the young monks. She came to know them well and saw firsthand both their needs and the warmth, curiosity, and spirit of this community.
The monastery serves the local Sherpa community and provides a home, education, and daily care for its novice monks. The Taksindu Medical Clinic is hosted at the monastery. Donations will help provide:
Nutritious food
Health and hygiene supplies
Educational materials
Clothing and shoes
A modest donation goes a long way in Nepal, and we know these funds will be well used and deeply appreciated.

Gretchen and Til will personally deliver the funds as cash donations to the monastery and the Taksindu community medical clinic.
This fundraiser will close on Oct 24 . We will bring the cash with us to Nepal to purchase supplies for the novice monks in Kathmandu, supplies for the clinic, and give the rest for the monastery to use for food for the monks.
