Support the Nickdow Family as Annmarie Recovers

Hello everyone,

My name is Gabby and I am Annmarie's Goddaughter.

The outpouring of love and support at this time has been incredible. Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes.

As many of you know my Godmother Annmarie is the one of most selfless people you will meet. You may remember her from the many years she dedicated to OLPH teaching religion classes or even the old Bower Elementary School days. One of my fondest memories that we always talk about is when she brought me to the bus stop my first day of kindergarten.

She has spent her life devoted to her Faith, Husband (Joe), two children and three grandchildren. 18 years ago a tumor was discovered on/near her brain stem. At the time, we found a surgeon in NYC who would operate and this procedure went on to save her life. The tumor was unable to be fully removed and Annmarie has had radiation done since.

On May 2nd, at around 6 PM Annmarie was out to eat with her family when she started to slur her speech and had a seizure. The ambulance rushed her to St. Joseph's Hospital where she was taken in and intubated. From here, she was transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital and placed in the ICU in a medically induced coma. She is under great care and currently undergoing a multitude of tests. The medical staff woke her up by the afternoon. She is strong and continues to fight. At this point in time, it appears the tumor is not responsible for the seizure. Her shunt is working well and her tumor has not grown in size. We are still waiting for more answers.

Her family is very close and tight-knit. Her husband has been by her side every moment. As a result, he will be taking time off of work to help Annmarie recover and heal. Joe is the sole income provider and his job will not be providing compensation for time off. We are unsure the extent of her condition and he wants to be by her side for all of it.

We are hoping this fundraiser will help her family take care of her and cover some of their expenses at this time. We do not want the monetary strain to affect her recovery. Any amount is appreciated and will go directly towards the family.
