Support the Next Generation of Livestock Showmen

Hello, my name is Rex Cashion. I’m a proud graduate of Boerne High School, a former FFA member and Greyhound football player, and a future United States Marine. Today, I’m reaching out to ask for your support in launching something very close to my heart:

The Future Showmen Fund

This fund will provide financial assistance to a selected Boerne ISD student (grades 8–12) to help them begin their journey in showing livestock. After an application and interview process, the chosen student will receive the full amount raised of $2000 to go toward the purchase and care of their first show animal.

Why This Matters to Me

Growing up, I dreamed of showing livestock. But from the beginning, the road was anything but easy. At just seven years old, during my first visit to a local barn, I was met with discouragement and little hope of participating. But I didn’t let that stop me. I kept showing up at events, asking questions, and learning everything I could about the livestock world, from steers to turkeys.

My breakthrough finally came in my sophomore year of high school when a new Ag teacher, Ms. Young (now Mrs. Richardson- pictured in blue in the above picture), believed in me. Together, we bought my first pig—Chesty, named after Marine legend Chesty Puller—and he went on to win first in his class. That experience changed everything.

Now, I want to pay it forward. My goal is to raise $2,000 to allow another student the opportunity I fought so hard to have—a chance to start their showman career with the support they need.
