Hi, my name is Jessica, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my dear friends — the Nelson family.

Please help raise funds to help the Nelsons after they were the victims of a devastating contractor scam that has left their home addition unfinished and funding diminished.

For over 2.5 years, the Nelsons have been working with All Universal Construction / Quality Construction (owned by Mike D’Angelo) on a bedroom and bathroom addition for their home — a project meant to give their 3-year-old daughter, Billie, her very own room. Sadly, the contractor did minimal work while taking nearly $40,000 of their hard-earned money.

They’ve since learned that this company has a long history of fraud and misused funds affecting more than 30 other families. To make things worse, the contractor has ghosted them and is reportedly filing for bankruptcy, meaning there’s little hope of recovering what they’ve lost.

Right now, the addition has only partial framing, some plastic wrap around it, and a thin layer of tar paper on the roof — far from weatherproof. With winter fast approaching, there’s a real risk that snow and ice could cause serious damage to the unfinished structure.

The Nelsons took out a HELOC loan to fund this project, hoping to finally give Billie the room she’s been waiting for. Since birth, she’s been sleeping in her crib in the family’s living room. This addition was meant to be her special space — a warm, safe room to grow up in.

Bekah, the mom, is one of the most selfless people I know. She’s a hardworking nurse who has spent her life caring for others — and recently, she donated one of her own kidneys to save her brother’s life. She would literally give the clothes off her back ( even her kidney) to help anyone in need, and now it’s our turn to be there for her.

The family plans to do as much of the work as they can on their own, but with funds running out, they need help purchasing materials and covering essential labor to finish before winter causes more damage.
