On June 23, 2025, the lives of Malcolm and Morgan Neely—and the entire Neely family—were forever changed by a tragic fireworks accident. In a matter of moments, what was meant to be a joyful celebration turned into a life-altering event. Malcolm suffered the loss of several fingers, partial eyesight, and extensive burns to his face, chin, mouth, and respiratory system. He now faces a long road of surgeries and recovery. Morgan endured ruptured eardrums, severely blurred vision, burns to his face and chest, the loss of a finger, and significant damage to his dominant hand, which is now held together by pins. Both boys are facing a future filled with uncertainty and ongoing medical needs.
Malcolm is known for his fun-loving, rambunctious spirit. He loves playing basketball and practicing jujitsu, always bringing energy and joy to those around him. Morgan is the family jokester, with a giving heart and a passion for music and dance—he plays the cello, sings in chorus, and was looking forward to dancing with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. This accident has not only impacted their physical health but has also placed a tremendous emotional and financial strain on the entire family.
The Neely family is now facing mounting bills for utilities, therapy, home health care, and the ongoing costs of surgeries and rehabilitation. The outpouring of calls, texts, prayers, and donations has been a source of comfort and strength. Your continued support will help the family begin this long journey of healing and will ease the financial burdens, allowing Essence to be a full-time caregiver for Malcolm and Morgan. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope and relief to the Neely family as they work toward recovery.
