My name is Greg Moss, and I am the president of the North Carolina Chapter of the National Conference of Black Lawyers. Our mission is to be the legal arm of the movement for black liberation. The generation of attorneys and legendary mentors that came before us are challenging us to answer one question: Who is going to follow in their footsteps? These same attorneys stood against the KKK, our oppressive government, and have represented some of our greatest heroes, including Angela Davis and Nelson Mandela. We have been following in their footsteps by joining grassroots movements across the state to help them in an organizing and legal capacity. We have been doing great work, but we have limited capacity. We need more resources to enable someone to spearhead our community work. We are currently laying the groundwork for law students and lawyers to join the frontlines on many battle fronts, including workers’ rights, mass incarceration, gentrification, right-wing extremism, and more.
