Support the Moser's Dairy Farm Fire Recovery

Donation protected
Early in the morning of July 15, the Moser dairy farm (Lalisa Holsteins) in Bally, PA had a fire in their hay/tractor barn which resulted in a tremendous loss of feed for the dairy cattle as well as farm equipment and other supplies. The pictures show the devastation! The farm is self-sustaining, with a majority of the feed and bedding planted, harvested, and processed by the Moser’s.

This is a multi-generational farm which supports 250 head of cattle, and since the loss, has continued to operate. Three generations of Moser’s work daily to continue to support the farm – Laverne (Muck) who celebrates his 80th birthday this year, his son Mark who has continued the tradition of farming, Mark’s sons Jackson (18) and Luke (15) who are eagerly learning the business, and grandson/nephew Ian who has been living and working on the farm for the past 18 months. Luke is active in the Oley Valley FFA and has plans to continuing to farm as his life’s work. So, it is important for the family to keep the farm operating and to thrive for generations to come.

Many have enjoyed visiting the farm with personalized tours from Heather or Pat. It is a place to experience farm life and the whole Moser family is very welcoming! Therefore, it is no surprise that they have already received immense support with Heather expressing thanks via Facebook: “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for all the first responders, fire fighters, farmers, friends, and family who have come to our aide during this time of need. The blessing is we are all safe and no animals were lost. We appreciate everyone’s continued prayers as we work through everything in the coming days and weeks. Thank you to our amazing community for all your love and support.”

Please consider a donation to help the Moser’s recover some of the immediate costs of replacing feed by “Adopting a Cow”. Penn State Extension estimates the cost of dairy heifer operations in PA of around $3/day/head which is about $270,000/year for a herd of 250 cattle. Your donation of $21 would support one cow for a week, $90 would support one cow for approximately 1 month. But any amount would be of great help!
