Support The Mizen Foundation This Advent
Dear friends,
As we’re now in the season of Advent, I want to take a moment to thank you for your kindness and prayers over the past few months. Your support has meant so much to me and my family, especially while I've been focusing on my recovery. I'm taking things day by day and hope to be back to full strength in the New Year.
This time of year always reminds me of Jimmy. He loved Christmas, and his excitement would fill our home. Jimmy and George would always decorate the outside of our house—a tradition George continues to this day.
Usually, much of our fundraising during December happens through schools taking part in Jumpers for Jimmy. While some of our wonderful schools are still running it, I haven't been able to write to as many as I'd hoped this year.
So, this Advent, I'm reaching out to you. If you're thinking of skipping Christmas cards or presents this year and would like to support a local cause, please consider donating to The Mizen Foundation. Every donation helps us continue sharing Jimmy's story, funding our Sparkle Award, and running our Rugby Competitions for schools—programs that make such a difference to young people.
Your kindness means everything to me. It helps us keep Jimmy's legacy alive and ensures that more young people can hear his story and be inspired to bring about change in their communities.
Thank you so much, and lots of love,
Margaret xx
More information about The Mizen Foundation: In 2008, sixteen-year-old Jimmy Mizen was tragically murdered in an unprovoked attack in South London. In response to this devastating loss, his parents, Margaret and Barry Mizen, demonstrated remarkable strength, compassion, and determination by publicly calling for forgiveness instead of anger and revenge.
From this foundation of resilience and hope, The Mizen Foundation was born. Dedicated to spreading their powerful message of "Forgiveness, Peace, and Hope," the charity works tirelessly to turn Jimmy's legacy into action.
Through our programs, we inspire young people to lead lives of kindness, equipping them to become the changemakers and peacemakers of tomorrow. Whether it's awarding young people for their positive contributions through our Sparkle Award, bringing schools together during our annual Rugby Competitions, or sharing Jimmy's story in our Talks for Change, we challenge young people to reflect on their actions and use their own power and voice for positive change.
Jimmy's legacy continues to inspire forgiveness, peace, and hope in every life we touch.
