We are devastated to share that on October 10, Mikey suffered a serious hemorrhagic stroke that could change his life forever. He is currently in critical condition, recovering in the Neuro ICU at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and has a long road to recovery ahead. While we aren’t certain what his recovery will look like, the doctors have told us to prepare for him to be recovering and in rehabilitation therapy for many months ahead. Because Mikey is self-employed, with no benefits or insurance, we are asking for your support.

Currently, Mike is paralyzed on the left side of his body. While we are hopeful that he will regain mobility, it is not guaranteed. His cognition and speech are improving daily. His primary concern since his stroke has been the wellbeing of his boys. Your support will help relieve this stress, and help him focus his energy on his recovery.

If you know Mikey, you know he’s an amazing dad to Quincy, 4 years old, and Miles, 18 months old. He works hard to support and show up for them, and lights up when he’s with his boys. Together, they love going on adventures, spending time at the park, going on bike rides and nature walks and swimming at the cottage. Mikey is an incredible chef and loves to make them delicious homemade meals. This medical emergency impacts his ability to show up for his boys like he once did.

Mikey is self-employed; his main source of income is selling vintage clothing (Quincy James Vintage) and bringing music talent to Canada’s capital (Kapacity Entertainment). Mikey has been a staple of the Ottawa entertainment community since the late 90’s. He has brought in world renowned artists like A$AP Rocky, Diplo, DJ Premier and The Roots. It is uncertain when he will be well enough to work again and provide support for his boys.
