SUPPORT THE MIGRANT HOUSING FUND More than a year ago, the governors of Texas and Arizona started sending people who’d recently crossed the Southern border on one-way buses to D.C. (and a few other cities). The buses aren’t in the headlines as much but they are still coming — and hundreds of refugee families and individuals are trying to start new lives in our area. They have spent months or years fleeing their homes (in Venezuela, mostly) and making the long trek here. They have nothing except each other, faith in the future, and us. They need everything. Help us love our (new) neighbors through the new MIGRANT HOUSING FUND, which will help newcomers with security deposits and a month or two of rent so they can build a safe home here. Our first project: La Casa de Solidaridad, which will be a home dedicated to providing transitional housing for LGBTQ+ refugees, who are among the most vulnerable in shelters.
