Support the Family of Nora MacIntosh
THE STORY
For those who don’t know Nora MacIntosh, she is a joyful teenager with a smile a mile wide and a heart to match.
Nora was diagnosed with cancer just a few months ago. Her parents, Ann and Bruce, dropped everything to help their daughter. Ann quit her job and has not left Nora’s side since the day she was diagnosed. Bruce frequently took time off work to be with Nora, Ann, and the other children.
Nora’s cancer is a very rare sarcoma. It is very aggressive and metastatic. It is in her pelvis, lungs and brain. By the time the family received a diagnosis from the Mayo Clinic, her chances of survival were very low. With the help of their doctors, Ann and Bruce did everything they could to make sure that Nora would feel well enough to spend her precious time with her family and friends.
Nora underwent brain surgery, radiation, and several bouts of chemo. She even had to be in the ICU for five weeks. Ann moved into the ICU with her and stayed at her side every minute. Bruce took more time off work to be there for everyone.
Despite prayers and the excellent care she received, Nora’s cancer did not respond to treatment and rapidly progressed. Just recently, Nora entered hospice care.
At the time of this writing, Nora is home, encircled with love. The first night they returned home from their ICU stay, Nora said to her Mom, “I love you. I’m SO glad we’re home.”
THE NEED FOR FUNDS
Because Ann stopped working and Bruce has taken off so much time from his job, their income has gone down, yet their expenses have continued to go up as they do with family emergencies. And then, of course, there is an expense that nobody likes to think about-- the costs of a child’s funeral.
All the MacIntoshes want to do now is spend as much peaceful time with Nora as they can. While we cannot remove the burden of this situation from their shoulders and hearts, we can remove the stress of financial worries from their minds.
Your contribution to the campaign will help them with all these expenses. It will also help the MacIntoshes stay on their economic feet. Just as Ann and Bruce and Nora’s siblings encircle Nora with love and support, your prayers and donations will help to create a circle of support around the MacIntosh family.
