Support the Lucero Family

Donation protected
On December 3, 2018, Yanci, Carlos and Lucas Lucero welcomed identical twin boys, Luna and Leo, into the world ahead of schedule. While both boys were considered premature it was little Leo who needed the most medical attention. He had heart surgery shortly after birth and over the next many months had to endure multiple other procedures as his body grew and tried to gain strength. Leo showed his true Lucero colors, fighting off many infections and surviving for nearly 10 months at the UCSF Medical Center. Unfortunately, Leo never was able to gain the strength he needed to come home with his parents and two brothers. Leo passed away at 11am on September 26, 2019.

As you can imagine, a 10 month hospital stay including surgeries and other medical procedures comes with quite a large financial burden. Yanci and Carlos eventually made the decision for her to return to work earlier this Fall as they watched their bills rise.  As an educator, Yanci has touched the lives of countless children and families. Let's show her just how many by joining together to help support the Luceros pay for high medical bills that they now face as well burial services that are being planned for their dear, sweet Leo.

As Yanci said, "Sometimes twins don't walk together. One has wings and can fly!"

If you are unable to make a financial contribution, but would like to send a message to the family I will be collecting letters and items at Hearts Leap School (2638 College Ave, Berkeley CA 94704).
