Located in Kensington, The Lighthouse represents hope for families, our neighbors, and the community.
While the surrounding streets of Kensington suffer at the heart of the opioid epidemic, we aim to be a beacon of hope by providing educational, recreational, cultural, social, and economic improvement programs for our community.
After 130 years of service, we’re more committed than ever.
In 2024, The Lighthouse served over 5,500 people with 40 events and programs. Our range of programs provides youth with opportunities to grow into contributing members of society, whether it’s getting involved with our sports teams, learning new arts and crafts, or connecting with local business leaders. We also host cultural and seasonal festivals, Friday Nights at the Barn and more events to invite the community into our space.
Founded in 1893 as a settlement house, we have provided services and respond to multidimensional events in Kensington and beyond, including neighborhoods like Fairhill and North Philadelphia. We work to increase the quality of life in these communities by helping members towards self-sufficiency and guiding the youth and children toward a better future.
We rely on donations to continue acting as a safe space for neighbors and families. This year more than ever, your gift will help The Lighthouse continue to grow and meet the challenges of our ever-changing world. Your contribution celebrates our children’s access to an excellent education, extraordinary after-school programs, and unparalleled inner-city sports programs.
