Support the Lemire Family Reunion 2024
Donation protected
Looking forward to another Lemire Family Reunion on Saturday July 27,2024 at the Apple River Family Campground in Somerset, Wisconsin. This year we are trying to hold down the costs. We still need to rent the Party Shack, some tables, chairs, another small overflow tent and a porta potty. Any help you can give to offset these costs will be greatly appreciated.
François Xavier Lemire was born 2 Apr 1803 (221 years ago) in Saint Antoine de la Baie du Febvre, Quebec, Canada. He died 15 Sep 1877 ( 74 years old) in Somerset, St Croix County, Wisconsin. He is buried in Saint Anne's Catholic Church Cemetery.
Francois was married to Marguerite Janell dit Genest 26 Oct 1824 in Baie du Febvre, Quebec, Canada. Together they had 12 Children: Marguerite, Emérence, Cleophas, M. Adelina, M. Olive, Jean Gualbert Jonas, Sara, Virginie, François, M. Marguerite, Edwin and François-d'Assise,
Marquerite died 14 May 1840 from the influenza. She is buried in Quebec, Canada.
François remarried on 21 Sep 1841 to Marie Mary Paquette. Together they had 13 children: Edward J., Marie Anne, Abraham, Louis, Benjamin Oliver, Rose Dorimène, Marie-Marguerite, Joseph, Rosalie, Marie-Anastasia, Etudian, Marie Emma, and Frank.
François and Marie followed some of their children to Somerset, Wi to farm the newly deforested lands. They immigrated in 1855.
In 1955 The St Paul Pioneer Press ran an article on François. It said he may have started the largest family tree in North America - a modern day Abraham. His Great-Grand Children numbered over 2400, some of the lines in Canada were missing so an accurate count is impossible.
Be sure to fill out the survey on the Francois Xavier Lemire Family FaceBook page. This will let us know who is coming to the event so proper name tags can be prepared.
The Go Fund Me Organization charges a small amount for the use of the site. It comes out of the donations that are made to the memorial so you do not have to donate any additional money to them in spite of what the web site asks when you make a donation.
