Support The Kindness Closet's Upcycling Program!

The Kindness Closet is celebrating one year open as a brick-and-mortar shop! After being online for a year, the shop doors opened to the public on March 19th, 2022. The past year has been amazing and we're so excited to see how our second year in the shop goes!

The Kindness Closet believes in radical humanity and exists to bridge community divides. We aim to change the societal narrative around incarceration and who it impacts. Our vision is to make the world a more just and kind place and we exist to model that a better future is possible when we invest in healing, rather than punishment.

In the past two years of online and in person sales, The Kindness Closet has touched the lives of hundreds of people in a variety of ways. Our Upcycling Program was originally going to launch in February; however, it had to be delayed due to funding issues. If you want to help us get it off the ground, this is your chance!

The Upcycling Program will support a group of adults with justice system involvement to learn how to sew and upcycle garments that will be sold in the shop. This program will empower participants to know their worth and capabilities, and assist them in acquiring transferrable skills to aid in employment searches.

100% of the donations to this fundraising campaign will be used to support participants of the Upcycling Program. Participants will take sewing lessons at The Sewist in Uptown Saint John and have all supplies provided to them, plus extra incentives to support learning.

If we reach our $3000 goal before The Kindness Closet Founder's 30th birthday (April 17th), she'll dye her hair PINK!
