Support the Host Twins on their NICU Journey

Kirsten and Cullen’s pregnancy journey had its ups and downs, with minor complications along the way. By Christmas Eve morning, they were given the all-clear and feeling hopeful. However, just a few days later, on Sunday, December 30th, Kirsten's water broke at 4 a.m., setting them on an unexpected adventure to the hospital. Since Monticello wasn’t equipped to care for tiny preemies, they were informed they’d need to be transferred. Kirsten was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital, where Cullen—amazingly—managed to arrive ahead of the ambulance.

From the moment they arrived, the medical team provided exceptional care. Tests, steroid shots, magnesium drips, and every available measure were taken to help. After 24 hours with little progress, it became clear Kirsten wouldn’t be leaving the hospital until the twins made their debut. The big question was whether it would be days, weeks, or even months—it was entirely up to the girls.

Early the next morning, around 7 a.m., Cullen prepared to head home to grab clothes and supplies for the road ahead. Just before he left, the couple asked the doctor to check in one more time—and the girls decided they weren’t waiting for the new year! What followed was a whirlwind, chaotic delivery, but thanks to the incredible care team at St. Cloud Hospital, both babies arrived safely.

Kirsten and Cullen are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support they’ve received and thankful for every hand that helped bring their daughters into the world. This adventure has been filled with surprises, and they feel blessed to have the support of family and friends on this journey.
