Every parent’s worst nightmare is finding out their child has been diagnosed with cancer.
Yesterday, our longtime friends, Chrystal and Jurrien found out their youngest daughter Isis, has been diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia), a type of blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow.
Isis will begin a five-month process of intensive chemotherapy tomorrow. She will be living in a children’s hospital 2 1/2 hours away from home and her parents will be traveling back and forth between their home in Michigan to work and care for their two other children, while supporting their 11 year old daughter, Isis.
The financial burden of unforeseen medical bills, hotel stays and travel expenses makes the emotion toll of this news even more daunting.
