Since Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica last week, people have been asking us how they can help.
We’re incredibly thankful that Merrick’s immediate family, and Paradise Lane, the neighborhood in Ocho Rios where he grew up, were spared from the worst of the storm. Unfortunately, others in greater Ocho Rios and in the small mountain town where Merrick’s dad was from, and where he is buried, weren’t as fortunate.
These communities aren’t just places on a map. They’re roots of our family, filled with people and memories that we hold dear.
Electricity remains out across much of the area, and with infrastructure still heavily disrupted, it’s difficult to fully grasp the extent of the damage. What we do know is that for many in these communities, any property repairs will likely need to be covered out of pocket.
Our goal with this fundraiser is twofold:
1. Support the Henry family, especially those in the countryside where the damage was most severe, with property repair costs.
2. Donate remaining funds to local charities in Ocho Rios and the greater St. Ann Parish that are helping residents recover and rebuild.
The people of Jamaica are strong, spirited, and resilient. We’re deeply grateful for your generosity and for considering a contribution to help these communities get back on their feet.
