Hi everyone! This year, I'm celebrating my birthday by asking for donations to support The Guatemalan Maya Center, Inc., an organization dedicated to assisting and empowering indigenous Mayan families here in Florida. Currently the situation in this community has become dire, with ICE detaining and deporting parents of young children who are left here abandoned. The G.M.Center is assisting with legal help, support for older siblings, other family or even neighbors to care for the children, and whenever possible, transportation to where their parents are for reunification. The G.M. Center has an after school program in an elementary school in Lake Worth where I have been volunteering since 2012. The children and families here mean alot to me.
