Freedive Fest, and South Florida have always shared a special connection with Trinidad & Tobago. Palm Beach itself was named after coconuts brought from Trinidad, and one of our co-founders, Keke McBride, is a proud citizen of T&T. Event co-founder Virgil Price, our late friend and mentor, shared that same deep bond — mentoring local athletes and helping to build the foundation of freediving in the islands.
In 2023, we joined Virgil in hosting a freediving camp in Trinidad & Tobago, where we trained new divers and instructors. That event was a turning point — igniting a growing freedive community that continues to flourish today.
The Vision
The Virgil Price Memorial Scholarship Fund exists to continue Virgil’s mission: making freediving more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable in Trinidad & Tobago.
This year, our goal is to raise $12,500, which will:
- Sponsor 3 athletes from Trinidad & Tobago to attend South Florida Freedive Fest 2025, where they’ll receive elite coaching and international exposure.
- Support the first-ever Freedive Fest Trinidad and Tobago (T&T), helping to make registration, equipment, and training more affordable for local athletes.
By balancing travel opportunities with local development, we can open doors for rising athletes now while investing in the long-term growth of freediving in the Caribbean.
How It Works
- Each athlete sponsorship is valued at $2,500 — covering airfare, lodging, food, and event fees.
- The remaining funds will be dedicated to subsidizing Freedive Fest T&T, helping make the event accessible to the next generation of divers who cannot yet travel abroad.
- Athletes will be nominated by local freediving schools in Trinidad & Tobago.
Why It Matters
Many talented freedivers in Trinidad & Tobago face barriers like lack of access to training, limited travel resources, and high costs of certification. This fund helps bridge that gap — offering pathways to compete, connect, and represent T&T proudly on the world stage.

Accountability & Transparency
All donations go directly toward travel sponsorships and Freedive Fest T&T development. Updates and photos will be shared regularly on our website and social media so donors can see their impact in real time.
