Support the Foundation of Light's Growth

The Foundation of Light is a vibrant and welcoming space where the community gathers for mind-body-spirit healing, learning, and creative expression. We are dedicated to nurturing an inclusive space for people from all walks of life to share, explore, and discover their own inner guidance and overall wellness for personal and collective transformation.

Help us evolve and grow to better serve the Ithaca community and Finger Lakes region! Our recently-expanded staff are developing a new series of day retreats to make personal revitalization more accessible and affordable. With the pressures of modern living, all of us can benefit from time devoted to recharging ourselves so that we can be more resilient and available for ourselves, our families, and our community.

We've also been busy expanding our public programming with more weekly classes (QiGong & Afro-Cuban Drumming), new workshop series, engaging performances (music, magic, poetry), interactive kirtan/ecstatic chant, moon circles, and joyful cultural events. On November 8-10 we hosted a successful series of fundraising events with a poetry performance, an Open Mic with Dances of Universal Peace and a Community Potluck and Kirtan.

More fundraising events take place in December, with a Swing Dance on Dec. 14th, a Winter Solstice Celebration on Dec. 21st, and our annual Burning Bowl Ceremony, a tradition started by FOL Board Member Dorothy Cotton, over 30 years ago!

Word is getting around about our facility and more people and groups are choosing us for their private events and gatherings - workshops, retreats. weddings, birthdays, etc. Great non-profits like Tompkins Food Future and the Human Services Coalition hold events here, and many people choose to mark important life passages here too.

This is all a lot of work (as you can imagine), and we reached a tipping point this summer where we had to get bigger or shrink - we chose to expand! To get the Foundation of Light to the next level of its potential, human power is needed. Your donations help support our recent staff expansion from one half-time worker to two half-time workers. As the use of our facility expands, so does our income and ability to meet our budget. Your assistance will be very helpful to tide us over as our efforts gain traction and result in increased income.

$5,555 is our goal because it covers three months of our second employee's payroll costs, plus it's an angel number associated with spiritual awakening and transformations!
