Support the Fight for Nationwide Ryan's Law
Donation protected
My name is Jim Bartell, and I'm reaching out to you on behalf of the Ryan's Law Foundation. Five years ago, my son Ryan was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and passed away just seven weeks later. The first hospital he was in used Fentanyl for his pain, which kept him unconscious most of the time. After transferring Ryan to a facility that allowed medical cannabis, we saw immediate improvements: he woke up, was able to communicate with loved ones, and experienced significant pain relief.
Angered and disappointed by the time we lost while Ryan was unnecessarily sedated, I wrote legislation mandating that all hospitals allow terminally ill patients to use medical cannabis. Despite initial setbacks, including a veto due to misconceptions about federal funding, our perseverance paid off. With clarifications from CMS, Ryan's Law was signed into California law in September 28, 2021 and took effect in January 2022.
Now, we are working very hard to expand this right nationwide, ensuring that no other family endures what our family did. But we need your help. Your donations will support our efforts to advocate for Ryan's Law in more states, providing dignity and comfort to countless terminally ill patients and their loved ones.
Together, we can make a difference. Please donate today and share our story. Let’s honor Ryan’s memory by giving others the gift of presence in their final days.
Your contributions will fund:
• Legislative advocacy in various states.
• Campaigns aimed at mobilizing public support for legislative changes.
• Legal support to navigate state-specific challenges.
Thank you for your compassion and support.
