Support the family of UIPD Officer Aaron Landers

Please join us* in supporting the family of Lt. Aaron Landers of the University of Illinois Police Department & East Central Illinois Bomb Squad.

Aaron was killed earlier this week when an allegedly uninsured, impaired driver caused his motorcycle to crash in Champaign. He leaves behind his wife, Dee, and two children: Alex and Kitty.

All donations will be directly provided to Dee by GoFundMe to use to assist with immediate expenses related to Aaron's medical and burial costs and to create college funds for Alex and Kitty.

Local news stories have shared Aaron's commitment to helping others —not just as a UIPD officer , but as a longstanding member of the East Central Illinois Bomb Squad and in his work with comfort animals to help his local community members and his brothers and sisters in blue cope with traumatic events.

The very morning of his accident, Aaron had attended Quad Day with his service dog on the UIUC campus to welcome students to the 2021-22 school year. He was recognized again and again for his service, including two life-saving awards, the excellence in community policing award, and the director of public safety recognition award.

Beyond what you'll see in the news, Aaron's family, friends and acquaintances know and depended on Aaron's warmth, genuineness and sense of humor. We hope to pull together with our community to lift up and care for his family the way he lifted & cared for us all.
