In the heart of our city, the Hamilton Dream Center has been a place of hope, compassion, and community. For so many, it’s more than just a building-it’s a lifeline. From feeding children and families, to offering clothing, support programs, and a sense of belonging, the Dream Center has stood as a beacon of care in our community.

Recently, everything changed.

A catastrophic fire has caused severe damage to the Hamilton Dream Center, forcing us to close our doors - at least for now. The impact is not just physical - it’s deeply felt by every volunteer, every family, and every individual who depends on these services.

But this is not the end of our story.

We are determined to rebuild. We are committed to restoring this vital space so we can continue serving our community with the same love and dedication as before. And we can’t do it alone.

We are asking for your help to:

* Cover the cost of the $10,000 deductible

* Raise the finances to pay the hst on the insurance claim

*Replace essential equipment and supplies

* Restore our Grocery Support Services

* Support the immediate needs of the families we serve during this time

Commercial insurance does not cover HST on restoration labour, and this project will be highly labour-intensive. It also does not cover the HST on materials purchased for the rebuild. As a result, this fire is expected to cost us between $30,000 and $50,000 out of pocket.

As a registered charity, we will be able to recover approximately 40% of the HST, likely toward the end of the year. Once those funds are returned, we are committed to reinvesting them directly into the pantry for food and other program needs.
