Our names are Julissa y Noah and we are clinical social workers and sexuality therapists in Delaware. My clinical focus surrounds the undocumented Spanish speaking community, the LGBTQIA community, and victims of human trafficking. I have over 34 years of advocacy and social justice work in Delaware - working to protect our most vulnerable communities. I have been named two years in a row as one of Delaware's most influential in the area of social justice and advocacy and was recently inducted into the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame for my work.
Noah is the sole therapist at a reproductive health center in Delaware, specializing in reproductive health and an expert in Trans mental health. Noah created and has developed the program from inception. He is the author of the first and only legal transition guides for Trans residents in Delaware.
Together, we founded Orgullo Delaware, a clinical platform that provides therapy and resources to LGBTQIA-identified Latines and their families, with a focus on Trans individuals. Our organization focuses on finding access to safe hormones for our undocumented Trans community, educating orgs and medical professionals on Trans care and needs, and working with the Governor's office and Delaware legislators on policies that will protect and enhance the lives of Trans Latines in Delaware. Support Latinx Sexuality! Orgullo Delaware is the first and only organization in Delaware that centers support for LGBTQIA-identified Latines and their families.
We are also the founders of the Delaware Sexuality & Gender Collective which serves as a hub for professionals who are working within the fields of sexuality, LGBTQIA advocacy, reproductive health, intimate partner violence, etc to share information on trainings, events, and resources. The purpose of creating the DSGC was to ensure that we are contributing to breaking down silos and ensuring that information is shared equally so that it can then be passed down to the clients we serve.
Through our organizations, we have created several unique programs to serve the LGBTQIA community and will continue to grow our programs in 2025:
El Armario - Partnering with Phoenix Textile Recycling and through donations from the community to host a free clothing closet for the Trans and non-binary community in Delaware. We hosted our first one in September 2024 and it was very successful. Our clothing drives take place every April.
Pride Speaker Series - a monthly educational virtual space where Delaware LGBTQIA experts present information on the chosen topic and provides the audience the opportunity to ask questions. We covered various topics such as the history of forced and coerced sterilization, human trafficking, updates on gender affirming care, and other important topics that fall within the sexuality scope.
The Pride Market - Delaware’s first Pride Market dedicated to LGBTQIA owned businesses. The first Pride Market was November 2024 and it hosted 30 LGBTQIA vendors. The Pride Market was so successful that we decided to move to do two markets a year! We kicked off 2025 Pride Month with our Pride Market on June 1 and we host 60 LGBTQIA aligned businesses!
Arcoiris Legal - In partnership with the members of the LGBTQIA section of the Delaware State Bar Association, Arcoiris Legal provides probono legal consultation to the LGBTQIA community by lawyers who are also part of the community. Our plans for 2025 are to host several name changing clinics to help with paperwork and to guide on the legal transition process and to offer scholarships to those in need to pay for legal transition fees.
Cocina 943 - In 2025, we will continue to partner with local restaurants, markets, and the Food Bank of Delaware to deliver meals to those recovering from gender affirming surgery.
La Rogativa Project - Partnering with Point of Pride to bring gender affirming wear such as chest binders and other sexuality protective needs to Puerto Rico. In 2025, we also plan to establish a clinical practice in Puerto Rico in order to also serve the Trans community with mental health therapy.
El Cine - In partnership with Theatre N, beginning in 2025, we will plan to host film discussions centered around social justice, LGBTQIA documentaries, reproductive justice, and Latinx issues.
