Our Story:

We are Travis, Mikala and Evie Deck and we are hoping to find a beautiful new soul to welcome into our home. Our journey to parenthood hasn't been easy or typical; I was diagnosed with Protein S deficiency (a genetic blood clotting disorder) during my second pregnancy after massive bleeding complications and miscarrying twins previously. This condition unfortunately effects me every time I'm pregnant, and makes it extremely dangerous for me and any potential baby. We made it through the pregnancy with our daughter Evie by the grace of God through endless complications, but as a result we could never risk leaving our miracle baby Evie without a mom or risk our hearts in another miscarriage. Pregnancy just isn't in the cards for us. We thought we were done, against our wishes, but our hearts have been opened to another path and we really believe God has been leading us here this whole time.

We prayed for healthy children for so long, and while He answered those prayers with a resounding YES in Evie, we've always had a little patched over hole in our hearts; one that wanted to give her a sibling and have a bigger family. That prayer always felt like it was answered with a resounding NO, but I truly think it was really just a "not yet". This path, the one that gives a baby in need a home where he or she will be so loved, is where we believe we were meant to go this whole time, and we intend to open that door as wide as we can!

So, we need your help- Unfortunately adoption is extremely expensive. Most importantly we need prayers, as many as we can get, but we are asking for financial help as well. We are intending to try to find a baby in need through private infant domestic adoption and hire an attorney on our own to complete the process. We are currently looking in any state, but especially in Louisiana as there is a high need there, they have very adoption family friendly laws, and we have some connections in that state already. We want to try this avenue first for several reasons, but the main one being cost. Any agency is going to cost anywhere from $25,000- $50,000 where as private adoption through an attorney is more like $8,000-$10,000 depending on the situation, needs of the birth mother, counseling fees, state regulations, etc. Trying to do this privately through an attorney eliminates a lot of overhead fees associated with agencies and is generally a more ethically safe option. However, separate from that, we do need to pay for a home study and potential post placement visits as well, which is another few thousand dollars. If you are able to help us with these fees in any way, it would be so appreciated and go so far. Literally anything at all helps!

If you are not in a position to donate to our adoption fund, again, please share this far and wide and tell everyone you can! You never know what just clicking the share button can do, or who knows someone somewhere that can either help, or knows a mom looking for a home for her baby. The more prepared we can be, the better, and the more eyes that see this, the better as well! Ultimately we are looking for a baby before anything else, including financial help- everything hinges on finding a birth mother and figuring out the adoption plan based on her location. And of course, as always, pray for us. At the end of the day, we want another baby to love and we want to do that in a way that honors that baby's mother, her story and her baby's story. We will take whatever path we need to in order to get there and hopefully grow our family!

I never realized until I had a child how much I'd understand the phrase "it takes a village to raise a child"- we have never once managed our parenting journey without the help of the Church and all the people in it, as well as our family and friends, and this next fork in the path is no different. We are so excited to share another (different) parenting journey with you all again!
