Support the Cornish's through Darla's NICU journey

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

I am reaching out on behalf of my sister, Kayla and her husband Christian Cornish, who are currently facing an incredibly challenging time. Their 7th baby, Darla Faith, was born on February 19th, 2025 and was immediately admitted to the NICU with several anomalies (including a severe heart condition and multiple GI anomalies). She requires several surgeries in her first few months of life. 

Darla is already proving to be a little fighter, getting her first major and life-saving surgery on Day 1 of life to repair her Duodenum (Annular Pancreas). She also has fought through a scary sepsis infection during week 3. 

She has been receiving the best care in a top Children’s Hospital NICU these last few months, but she still has a long ways to go. Darla has another major GI surgery planned for April 30th and then an open heart surgery soon after that. 

Because the Cornish Family lives 5+ hours away from the hospital, Kayla is staying with Darla in the NICU while Christian is working and taking care of the other 6 kids at their home in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. 

Their family has been separated since January (3+ months) because Kayla had to move near the hospital for her prenatal care. Although they knew about Darla’s complications before birth, their stay in the NICU has become much longer than they planned or anticipated. As you can imagine, this situation has placed a significant financial and emotional burden on them while their family remains separated for an indefinite amount of time. 

Christian will need more childcare help so that he can continue working full time while single parenting the other 6 kids, and Kayla is not able to work their 2 family businesses at the capacity she used to. 

When Darla is able to be discharged (hopefully within 2-3 months), she will be going home with significant special needs. 

As their friends and family, we want to rally around them and make this difficult journey a little easier. I am humbly asking for your support to help ease their financial burden so they can focus on what truly matters—being there for Darla.
