To know Virginia was to love her, and now it’s time to show her family some love. The Congdon family lost Virginia on Monday, February 3rd. This fund will be used to cover the Congdon’s living expenses for the next few months so they can mourn without the pressure of operating their small, family business. All proceeds will cover the family’s mortgage, utilities, food, and business’s rent. Any money that exceeds the Congdon’s monthly expenses will go toward hiring someone to complete work on the family home, which Emil has been doing by himself.
Virginia was born with Aicardi syndrome- a rare genetic syndrome that requires substantial medical care and equipment. Because of her disability, Virginia’s medical expenses were in excess of $100,000 every year, an amount outside Leslie and Emil’s means. Fortunately, the Congdons qualified for assistance to help cover Virginia’s medical expenses, but the assistance came with very strict family earnings and savings limits. To put it plainly, Leslie and Emil were not allowed to keep more than $2,000 in savings, lest they lose all medical assistance. Because of these limits, the Congdon family has been unable to plan for substantial time away from work.
Now it’s our time to help. Please donate whatever amount you can so that Leslie and Emil can grieve with Virginia’s 4 siblings. Thank you for supporting the Congdons in this time of need.
