Friends and strangers, I'm Chuck Watson, retired teacher, part time sub, most most important to me is my volunteer work as the art curator for the Combat Air Museum in Topeka KS. We are a non profit 501C3 with the purpose of education foremost and preserving historic aviation artifacts and aircraft from WWI through today. About to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we have amassed a huge variety of aviation art and photography that I am proud to be curator of . Several months ago we were very fortunate to meet a nationally known illustrator from New York who approached us about being the first museum to display an eighty painting exhibit he completed for a book to be published. Hesitant at first, it turned into an outstanding and vast display that he personally drove to Topeka to deliver. What originally was a nine month exhibit has become a permanent gift to our museum. The space I have exhibited them on is just the backs of an eighty foot row of display cases, but now that it will always be a major part of our displays; I am planning to create a more professional and suitable space for them. The museum is all volunteer and receives no government support, so funding new items is a hit and miss process...thus I have taken it on myself to raise funds to purchase needed paints , coverings and signage to greatly improve the quality and appeal. All funds raised will be recorded and shared with the museum and any extra will be given over to further restoration of more of the art collection. Those who know me know the work I do there and it's importance, so I hope some will support this mission.
