After adopting from foster care last year, we were ready for a break from “the system.” It was at this point that Leah uttered the fateful words, “If God wants us to have another child, he’s just going to have to drop a baby in our laps!” Well guess what… God has dropped a baby in our laps.
Joey’s brother, who is a missionary in Palau, was put in contact with a very young expectant mother. The young mom, with the help of her family, has come to the conclusion that it would be best for this baby girl to be adopted. So imagine our surprise when, out of nowhere, Jon asked if we would like to adopt a baby. After some conversation and prayer, the answer was an enthusiastic “YES!”
Although cutting out the “adoption industry” is economical, there are still some costs involved in adopting from Palau, the biggest of which is airline tickets. There will also be some legal fees and paperwork tariffs, along with some legal processes to complete after we return to America. Although it seems crazy to ask you to participate, several of our friends have requested to be financially involved in this incredible opportunity. Building our family has been a team effort from day one, so it would only make sense for our “village” to be involved in this situation as well!
