I am Valerie Gabriel and I am a teacher at Van Buren. I am raising funds for the Chhay family. They own a local donut shop, Donut Star, and this past weekend, someone drove their car straight into the donut shop causing an extensive amount of damage. Luckily, no one was injured. The entire front half of the store was damaged as the car was only stopped by crashing into the counter and display case. This is the family's sole source of income. Mr. Chhay goes in early in the morning and makes all of the day's donuts and pastries by himself. His wife works every day greeting and servicing customers, many who are local regulars. The family has 4 children and always supports our community and schools. They are not able to start repairs on the store until the driver's insurance settles the case and even then, the repairs will take several weeks. Our goal is to raise enough funds to support the family until the donut shop is able to re-open. Any amount you are able to donate will help the family and be greatly appreciated.
