The Chavez family is a tight-bonded family. They do their best to make decisions that will keep their family safe and together. They are too proud to ask for help. They have been there with open arms when I needed help. It’s my turn to help them out.

Recently, they had saved up some money to try and purchase a home. Before then, they had always rented. I was excited to hear the news that they were finally able to take the next step and start the process of purchasing a home. As they maneuvered through the process, things were going well. Both parents were so excited. We made plans to celebrate once the keys to the new house were theirs. Then, things took a turn.

The application process had started, and they were told closing costs would be due in the future. They were contacted for money to be transferred. After some communication back and forth, with what they thought was the lender, they transferred the funds. It turned out to be a scam. Shortly after transferring the funds, they were notified by the real lender to transfer funds. After an investigation by the lender, they found that the funds had been transferred to a fake company. All of the money they had saved was gone. The bank is trying to help recover any money they can, and the FBI is starting an investigation. The family has been told it could take years to catch the criminals, if they ever do.

The purchase process has stopped since they no longer are able to pay the costs. However, the lender has been very understanding and is giving the Chavez family additional time to come up with enough money to close. I am asking for everyone to open their hearts and donate what they can, so the family can try to get into the home. Any little bit will help. Thank you.
