The Cauldron is an inclusive ritual, wellness, and community gathering space in Downtown Grass Valley. We recently shuttered our retail stores here in Grass Valley & Sacramento so that we could focus our efforts on community building & enrichment, especially our queer witch community.

Recently, head-witch and founder, Cyn Levesque, has been fighting to bring more diverse and inclusive event offerings within the historic downtown district and has been met with opposition and has faced harassment and intimidation. Our efforts to bring a small flash mob dance party to a recent Thursday Night Market in mid-June included getting the prior approval from both the mayor & the city manager, despite those efforts we had the police called to shut us down by the head of the Downtown Association. They were then sent into our sacred monthly event "Tea & Tarot Salon" a few days later on a "Compliance Call" again by the head of the Downtown Association. These were both clearly acts of harassment & intimidation and abuse of power. We have spoken up at City Council meetings & merchant meetings since, and as a result we have been asked to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement, which we are refusing to sign) and called into a mediated meeting (which they want to bill us for). We have encountered further threats & intimidation and it is clear to us now that we need to raise some funds to protect our legal rights and to protect & continue to offer this safe and sacred space to our community.

It is very clear that the powers that be in Downtown Grass Valley are scared of us witches, especially us queer ones...and it is more important than ever to protect this safe gathering space and our rights within our downtown.

Our intentions and mission for The Cauldron are to provide a safe and sacred space for all to gather in ways which we can uplift ourselves and The Collective through ritual, support, and safety. We currently offer a variety of classes, workshops, monthly New Moon Women's Circles, Full Moon Circles, Queer Wellness Circles, monthly "Tea & Tarot" mini psychic fairs, monthly intimate house concerts featuring local musicians & visual artists, a ritual theater camp for local youth, a Summer Day Camp for ages 6-16, book clubs, and so much more. This sacred gathering space is crucial in serving the needs of our community, especially in these dark political times.

We have hesitated in launching crowd-sourced funding, but it seems now it is not only necessary, but also important.
