The Notre Dame High School football community is coming together to support the Carter family after the sudden loss of Edward Carter, a devoted father and one of our program’s strongest advocates. Edward passed away unexpectedly this weekend while helping his youngest son, E.J., move into college. His passing has left a tremendous void, not only for his sons, Tay and E.J., but for everyone who knew him through our school and the wider Chattanooga community.

Edward was a guiding force in his sons’ lives, encouraging them to pursue their dreams on and off the football field. Thanks to his unwavering support, both Tay and E.J. have become college football players, carrying forward his legacy of hard work and dedication. Edward’s commitment to the Notre Dame football program was unmatched—he was always present, cheering on the team, volunteering his time, and building connections that strengthened our community.

With Edward as their sole provider, the Carter family now faces significant financial challenges. We are raising funds to help cover funeral expenses, provide travel support for their mother as she visits both college campuses, and ensure Tay and E.J. have what they need for clothing, books, and basic necessities. Beyond these immediate needs, the family will require ongoing support as they adjust to life without Edward’s guidance and care. Every contribution will help the Carters navigate this difficult time and remind them that they are not alone.
