Support the Carpenters rebuilding of health and home

I’m Molly DiFronzo and I’m the sister of Amy Carpenter, favorite sister-in-law of Mikey Carpenter, and aunt of 2 amazing nephews, Jay (4) and Ben (1).

In early April, Mikey and Amy became increasingly concerned over some ongoing health issues regarding their 4 year old son, Jay. After a full blood panel, it was determined that Jay’s iron absorption level was dangerously low. He was highly anemic. This came as a huge shock considering his daily diet includes a large amount of iron rich foods.

A friend of Amy’s suggested she does a mold test on their home as often hidden mold exposure can cause numerous health issues, including hinder iron absorption. They decided to do a mold test called an ERMI test. (Environmental Relative Mold Index) of their home to ensure their environment wasn’t to blame for Jay’s results- which unfortunately concluded quite the opposite.

The levels of various types of molds detected in their home was abundant. In fact, the levels of Stachybotrys, Chaetomium, and Aspergillus were sky high. Their overall HERTSMI “score” was 32 - A Healthy home should be less than 10. Stachybotrys is the dreaded toxic black mold and it came back at dangerously high levels. Mold releases millions of spores that release toxic mycotoxins. It is those mycotoxins that can make us incredibly ill.

Unfortunately all of their belongings are highly contaminated with these toxic mold spores which means they had to leave with NOTHING the very next day- not even their shoes! Not only have they been displaced so abruptly from the home that they’ve lived in for the last 10 years… the home both of their boys were born in, the only home their sons have ever know, but they have lost all of their clothing, furniture including mattresses and bedding, and so many items that hold the most special memories- whether it be from their boys lives or their own.

For the last 6 weeks Amy and Mikey have been bouncing around from friends houses and short term rentals with 2 young children. They are trying to maintain some type of normalcy for them, all while Amy runs her boutique Pilates Studio and Mikey works long shifts as law enforcement in the San Diego area.

Unfortunately insurance doesn’t cover ANY of this. It is the equivalent of their home and belongings being destroyed in a house fire- only insurance won’t cover anything.

Once they find a new home and begin to start their lives essentially from scratch, their journey is far from over. All 4 of them are currently undergoing testing to see each of their severity of Mold Toxicity. With that comes the process of detoxifying their bodies, which can be not only time consuming but very expensive. Most of these detox and testings are not covered by insurance. These funds will not only be extremely helpful in regards to their detox journeys and medical expenses, but will greatly help with their short term living situation, clothes, and the expenses of day-to-day living.

If able, let’s help get the Carpenters back on their feet! Every dollar is so greatly appreciated.
