Support the Myal Priest’s vision of building a Temple to create a home for the Myal religion. Tata Alex is a Maroon from Eastern Jamaica and he is the official Priest for Jamaica’s first and oldest religion: Myal. The Maroons are indigenous people in Jamaica who combined with Africans to create a formidable force to resist colonization in the New World. This proud people produced legendary freedom fighters like Nanny of the Maroons who fought against colonization and slavery, and political thinkers like Marcus Garvey who advocated for education, organization and entrepreneurship to advance us as a People. The Myal People have helped to shape the world with their wisdom, and it is their wish to build a Temple to restore the dignity of their religion, which was the first thing the colonizers attacked when they arrived in the New World.

During the 500 year period of colonial suppression of the Myal religion, the ancient institution was forced to go underground. The priesthood was forced to continue in secret, waiting for the fulfillment of the Morning Star prophecy. According to the Morning Star prophecy, the 500 year colonial cycle would end, and the Myal religion would rise again. Help us to usher in the Rebirth of Myal through the building of the Temple. The Myal Rising will see a revival or Renaissance of the Old Ways of the First Time People. The Temple will be the spiritual birthplace of the Myal Rising and the rise of the Myal religion.

We need at least $35,000 USD for the construction which includes the cost of certain equipment, materials, labour etc.

We also have several ongoing initiatives that we need support with such as community outreach projects, education initiatives for the community and other aid, projects and initiatives.
