Beyond the Tifo: Honoring the Legacy of the Black Cowboy ✊
The tifo was just the beginning.
- When we kick off our 2026 season, the massive display in the stands isn’t just about the match—it was a tribute to a legacy that has been "whitewashed" out of American history for over a century. Our inspiration came from the Black Cowboy Museum in Rosenberg, Texas, and the incredible work of its founder, Larry Callies.
Larry, a fourth-generation cowboy and former country singer, opened this museum to tell the truth: that the very word "cowboy" has its roots in the labor and resilience of Black men who built America. From the legends of the 1800s to the modern-day rodeo stars, Larry is on a mission to ensure these stories are never forgotten.
This Black History Month, we’re turning our tribute into action.
Larry often says, "I didn't want the Black cowboy to go in vain." After losing his singing voice to a rare condition, he found a new way to speak—through the artifacts, saddles, and stories of his ancestors. Now, we are asking our community to help amplify his voice.
Your donation will directly help Larry and his team:
Expand Educational Outreach: Bringing the "narrative corrective" of the West to more people across the world.
Preserve History: Maintaining rare artifacts, including family heirlooms and badges that pre-date the Civil War.
Further the Museum’s Reach: Funding the 2026 expansion to accommodate the thousands of visitors who travel from across the world to hear Larry’s tours.
The country may have forgotten the Black cowboy, but we won't. Help us support the Black Cowboy Museum as they educate, preserve, and celebrate a vital piece of our collective history.
