Dear Parents, Coaches, Families, and Friends of our Autism Sports Community,
We are thrilled to announce our plan to establish The Autism Sports Foundation as an official non-profit charity!
This journey started back in 2016, exploring the impact of structured team sports. Even then, we saw the potential for developing crucial skills like collaboration, communication, focus, and social thinking, alongside physical fitness gains.
Building on that foundation, our current program has blossomed. Week after week, we see the incredible power of this community in action:
Genuine Friendships: Children are connecting, interacting, and forming real bonds.
Social & Communication Growth: Children are improving their ability to communicate improving eye contact, encourage teammates, and navigate social interactions.
Skill Development: Participants are enhancing physical fitness, balance, coordination, and sport-specific skills.
Parent Camaraderie: Many of you share how vital it is to connect with other parents who understand, leading to mutual support, friendships, and even playdates outside of practice!
Coach Development: Our volunteers gain valuable leadership experience and skills.
Pure Fun & Joy: Above all, the smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm show that the kids are having a fantastic time while learning and growing.
The clear success we're witnessing – this thriving community, the developing skills, the supportive network – convinces us that now is the time to build a lasting foundation.
Our mission will be to harness the power of team sports to support the development, well-being, and social integration of neurodiverse children, while also providing resources and community for their families and coaches. We aim to create accessible, effective, and joyful sports programs guided by best practices.
Here's Where We Need Your Help: The Founding Drive
To make this vision a sustainable reality, we must formally establish the Autism Sports Foundation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. This legal status is essential – it allows us to operate officially and, critically, to apply for grants and accept tax-deductible donations from the wider community, businesses, and foundations in the future.
Our immediate goal is to raise funds for the legal and administrative costs of the 501(c)(3) filing. We are launching an initial Founding Drive to cover these essential setup expenses.
We appeal to you, our core community who sees the value of this program firsthand, to consider making a contribution. Any amount you can offer will directly support building the legal foundation for everything we hope to achieve. Your early support is crucial to getting us off the ground.
This is an exciting moment for our community. Together, we can build something special and lasting – an organization dedicated to helping neurodiverse children and strengthening families through the positive effect of team sports on development and communication skills.. Thank you for being part of this journey and for considering how you can help us take this vital next step.
With heartfelt appreciation and anticipation,
