Help the Amato Family - Hurricane relief
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
This is a little bit of a lengthy read, but if you can spare a few minutes of your time, I would be grateful. As some of you may or may not know, my family has been impacted by the hurricane that has devastated Western North Carolina. While we are grateful that they still have their homes, the lingering impacts of the storm continue to weigh heavily on them.
Since Thursday, they have been without electricity not only in their home but also in their business. It is expected that it could take up to a month for electricity to be restored, resulting in a month without income not only for their household but also for three other households that rely on the business and their jobs to support their families. While this may not seem too severe, especially considering other families who have lost their homes, unfortunately, this is not the only financially devastating issue my family has faced in recent years.
When they moved from New Jersey to North Carolina to start the new business, they barely made it through the Covid pandemic using most of their savings to make the move. Things seemed to be improving after Covid, but then my mom was diagnosed with cancer, leading to multiple surgeries, a double mastectomy, and 30 rounds of radiation. She is still not entirely in the clear due to the type of cancer she was diagnosed with. She wanted everyone to remain unaware of her cancer diagnosis because while my family is always there to help others, they are hesitant to accept help themselves. With my mom's health challenges and other illnesses, the sole provider and unwavering pillar of support for the family is Chris.
Just like with this business and all the others they've had in the past, he works tirelessly to support his family despite his own health issues. If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting him, you know that he is one of the hardest working, and most selfless individuals on the planet. The closure of the business for up to a month has already resulted in significant losses and unfortunately has added a significant amount of worry and stress. He does everything possible to provide for our family and take care of my young siblings, while also supporting us adult children and our families whenever able.
They may not be enthusiastic about this GoFundMe, because they are prideful people, but they always tell me I should ask them for help when I need it, so this is me trying to help them. Any donations received will not only help alleviate some financial burden for their household but also the households of my siblings in NC who depend on the family business. If you are able, please consider donating, and if not, please consider sharing.
I know this was a lengthy read, so thank you for taking the time.
With gratitude,
Kaitlyn
