Deborah Alford, a beloved member of the Dickinson Elementary community, is facing an incredibly difficult time. After nearly 2 decades as the school’s administrative assistant, Deborah retired in 2022, looking forward to spending more time with her husband, Gerald, their sons, and grandchildren. Sadly, Gerald was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. The Alfords are a private family, leaning on their faith as they navigate this challenging journey, but the situation has become overwhelming.
The costs of medical bills, hospital parking, groceries, and daily living expenses are adding up quickly. Deborah has always been one of the first faces to welcome students, staff, and families at Dickinson, showing kindness and care to everyone she met. Now, as she and her family face this crisis, it’s our turn to support them and help ease their financial burden so they can focus on what matters most.
The Alford family is deeply grateful for the prayers and love they have received so far. Let’s come together as a community to show the Alfords how much they are loved and supported during this difficult time.
Update: Gerald went to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 29, 2025. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
