Support the Alfaro family in their battle of terminal cancer

About
Hi, my name is Lexie Teel, and I'm fundraising for the Alfaro family: Alexis, Eddie, Tori, and Leah as they deal with the unfathomable task of caring for Eddie, their favorite person, while he battled terminal cancer. Since creating this fundraiser, Eddie passed on June 28th, 2024, and heaven has gained the most incredible man.

Eddie Alfaro is a human being you only encounter once-in-a-lifetime. Anyone who has ever met Eddie has an Eddie story - one that will always deserve to be told - and all who have met him are better for it. He is silly, full of light and laughter, loving, compassionate, caring, brilliant, giving, kind, and always has a story to tell. I could go on for years.

Eddie and Alexis will welcome anyone into their home and treat them as family. They set the purest example of lifelong love and friendship through their marriage, and have passed on all their best qualities to their two daughters. He is the best dad to Tori and Leah, husband to Alexis, and papa to four year old Nora.

I have had the pleasure of being welcomed into the Alfaro family for the past 12 years. I recently had the good luck of living with Tori, Leah, Gordon, and Nora, just five minutes down the road from Eddie and Alexis, and had the absolute privilege of joining weekly Sunday Family dinners every Sunday while I was under the Covington roof where I was welcomed with open arms.

The Story
On February 14, 2024, Eddie Alfaro was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer after going to the doctor for back pain. This was a completely blindsiding and unexpected diagnosis. After the diagnosis, Eddie began chemo on March 1, 2024. After what seemed like a lifetime to get the results of his scan following the first of his chemo treatments, on May 23, 2024, the Alfaros were given the news that his tumors had shrunk and there were no new spots found, giving them newfound hope for the future. Eddie's treatment plan was altered once the family received the good news to grant him more flexibility, allowing him to spend time away from the hospital each week.

This past Friday, June 21, 2024, the Alfaros received the results of the newest scans. Due to the nature of Eddie's cancer, within one month Eddie's mets regrew and spread throughout his body. On Monday June 24, 2024, his family brought him home to spend the rest of the time they have together in their family home in Lawrenceville.

On June 28, 2024, Eddie made his entrance into heaven.

From Alexis: "The world has lost a truly good man and heaven gained the best. I am sure he was welcomed with all the love as he surprised his mother for her birthday and they are having a grand celebration."

The fundraiser
Due to the incredibly short timeline of events that have unfolded over the last four months, the Alfaros have incurred unforeseen medical bills and time off work to manage hospital visits and care. While they prepare the impossible and horrendously unfair task of saying goodbye to one of the best men who have ever walked the Earth, I am hosting this fundraiser to garner financial support for Alexis during this time.

As most of you will know, Alexis works as a realtor. Due to this diagnosis, she has had to, and will have to continue taking time off work to care for and spend precious time with Eddie. These funds will be used for medical bills, and family stability and support.

Any donation is appreciated and helpful in our goal to support help build steadier ground for the Alfaros during this time. If you have any questions, please do let me know and I would be happy to assist or answer anything I can. If you have one -please drop your favorite Eddie stories below to be shared with their family.
