Hello neighbors and friends! We're excited to announce that we are raising funds for the 1st Annual Gundry Ave Labor Day Block Party!

The event will take place on Gundry Ave between Wardlow and 36th on Sunday August 31st (Three day weekend) from 11am to 7pm

Information:

The street will be blocked off with barricades on Gundry ave. between Wardlow and 36th. We would like all participating neighbors to move their cars, if possible, off the street so we can maximize the amount of usable space for the Block Party.

Set up:

-Neighbors and friends are encouraged to set up easy ups on their lawns or in front of their homes or friends homes and set up camp for the day. Neighbors are also encouraged to set up attractions on their lawns such as slip and slides or yard games for attendees to enjoy (especially the kiddos)

-Some homes will host main attractions such as live music or jumpers since these things cannot be held in the street as per the City of Long Beach; volunteers would be greatly appreciated!

Food and Drinks:

Attendees will be responsible for their own food and drinks, we suggest a "home base" cooler and grill. You are welcome to share or keep it private. Its up to you!

Who is Invited:

All are welcome. Invite your friends and family. This is a free event.

Who's Paying for it:

Your donations! 100% of your donations go to the cost of the event.

Each $25 donation will secure a Block Party T-shirt

(please include sizes in donation comment)

Some expenses include:

-Bounce House and Mechanical Bull ($500)

-Face Painter $300

-Barricades: barricades must be rented from specific vendors

approved by the City of Long beach ($200)

-Water balloons ($50)

-Water Melons ($50)

-T-shirts (determined by amount of donation)

If you would like to buy a screen printed Block Party T-shirt, please make a $25 donation per shirt and comment with your size, quantity and youth/adult specifications.

-All proceeds will go towards the T-shirt design, printing, and the event itself.

-The cut off date will be Friday, Aug 24nd so please get your order in by then to ensure you will have it by the day of the block party

-Every year we will have a new T-shirt so start the collection!

-A very small amount of shirts will be available for purchase at the event.

About me:

I'm born and raised in Cal Heights and have been enjoying living here for over 35 years. Originally living on Brayton and 36th, we would always have a large 4th of July block party. It's always been a goal of mine/ours to start a Gundry block tradition we can all look forward to just like I had growing up on Brayton. With lots of encouragement, myself (Steven) and my girlfriend Oni, along with Sevag and his wife Liz are spearheading the initial phase of the 1st Annual Gundry Ave Labor Day Block Party. We hope to encourage the entire neighborhood to participate and help make this the best event ever!
