In an extraordinary act of civil responsibility, a group of Texas state lawmakers are trying to prevent the passage of legislation that would significantly impact voter rights by leaving the state breaking quorum.

Each day a Texas Representative remains out of state they face $500 in personal civil fines —a burden that can quickly accumulate.

It would be easier — safer — to stay quiet. These legislators can collect a check turn a blind eye. They can go home, to their families who are waiting for them. But instead they’ve faced threats of arrest, bomb scares, and demands to be stripped of their positions. They’ve been called criminals for refusing to quietly accept something deeply wrong.

Now, the Texas House wants to redraw the district maps in a way that uses new lines to reassigning entire neighborhoods replacing the leaders we voted for with ones we didn’t choose.

What’s happening isn’t just about lines on a map — it’s about erasing voices. Communities are being divided, silenced, misrepresented — not by accident, but by design. A sliver of a neighborhood carved off and reassigned. Families who voted one way suddenly represented by someone they didn’t choose. At the drop of a dime fair representation can be manipulated because one man says,

The sole purpose is to provide personal financial support to lawmakers facing these non-campaign-related penalties. The funds raised will be used exclusively to help offset the personal expenses and fines associated with their decision to remain out of state.

We are in direct contact with several of the legislators who may receive assistance through this effort, all support will be distributed with transparency, and a record of disbursements and verification of compliant use of funds will be maintained and made available for review through weekly updates.

Your support will help alleviate the financial strain these individuals face and ensure that they are not forced to abandon their stand due to personal financial hardship. Every contribution represents a statement of solidarity with those who are taking significant personal risks in support of their values and the democratic process.
