Support Terry Hicks and his Family during their Time of Need

The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO is proud to start a collection fund for Terry Hicks. Terry Hicks is going through a challenging time because of serious illness, and we want to show our support in any way we can. He's fighting a profoundly serious illness, in the words of his son, "Terry is currently fighting for his life."

Terry needs no introduction to folks in Western Wisconsin, but I’ll provide one for everyone's benefit. The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO was born in 1902, and Terry served as president of the WWAFLCIO for 16 years, longer than any other individual in the 100+ year history of that organization. Additionally, he was vice president of the WWAFLCIO for one year, treasurer for two years, and represented the WWAFLCIO on the Coulee Cap Board. He’s been the editor-in-chief of the Union Herald, one of only three remaining labor-based newspapers in Wisconsin, for over 20 years (26 yrs, 10 mos). Only now he’s looking at stepping down because of his serious condition.

He's a recipient of an organizing award from the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, a commendation from then US Senator Herb Kohl for his contributions to the welfare of the residents of the State of Wisconsin, and the recipient of many other accolades.

Terry’s a published author, writing and publishing a 400+ page tome on the history of working families and labor unions in the Coulee Region titled, “La Crosse Labors.” He served proudly in the US Army.

Terry's also a loving husband and father, giving his entire life to three passions: community, working families, and his own family.

To show Terry we’re thinking of him, the WWAFLCIO is collecting funds to assist Terry and his family with the mounting medical bills. The WWAFLCIO will kick-start the fund with a contribution of its own.

Please consider donating to this fund, a fund thanking and recognizing Terry, a man who spent a lifetime giving selflessly to better the lives of family, workers, and community.
