Help Terry Raise Philomena: A 10-Year-Old Girl in Need of a Home, and a Hero Who Stepped Up.
When the only answer is a father’s love…
This past summer, Terry Greene welcomed an old friend, single mother Sandra Platicis, and her 10-year-old daughter Philomena for a visit to Syracuse. Terry had only met Philomena once before, but he was looking forward to reconnecting with Sandra and getting to know her daughter better.
Tragically, just one day after their arrival, Sandra suffered a sudden and severe stroke caused by a ruptured clot in her brain. She was rushed to Crouse Hospital and is now in a rehabilitation facility in Cortland, NY. While no longer in a coma, she remains unable to walk and continues to experience impaired communication. Her long-term recovery is uncertain.
Sandra is Philomena’s only living family.
With no other relatives able to care for her, and the threat of foster care looming, Terry stepped up in the most courageous way — becoming Philomena’s legal guardian. At 67 years old, and having just met this sweet child, he made a life-changing commitment: to raise her with love, security, and dignity.
Philomena has now started school in Syracuse and endured her first upstate winter. But as we all know, raising a child comes with ongoing expenses — food, clothing, school supplies, childcare, and more. These are significant burdens that Terry had not planned for at this stage in life.
That’s why we’re asking for your help.
Your donation will go directly toward supporting Philomena’s daily needs and helping Terry continue providing the stability and care she deserves.
Terry didn’t hesitate when a child needed him. Let’s show him that he’s not alone.
Thank you for your support, compassion, and generosity.
