My name is Taylor Mullins. My wife, Kenzie, is currently pregnant with our second baby. We have a one-year-old little boy. Her job currently does not offer maternity leave, so at the bare minimum, we won't be having her income for 8 weeks. My job does offer paternity leave, but to get overtime, I wouldn't be able to use it. So, I will be working the entire time.
Our daughter, who she is currently carrying, has a heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries and will require open-heart surgery and a minimum of a one-month NICU stay. My income alone isn't enough for us to afford the travel back and forth to the hospital (we have a 2.5-3 hour drive to the hospital), food, our normal everyday bills, and any bills we may acquire at the hospital that my insurance doesn't cover. We're not asking for a lot, just the bare minimum. We don't care if we meet our goal or not. Just something to help our peace of mind during this stressful time for our family.
